Zach, it's so good to hear from you. Seems everyone's post-holiday schedule is quite full up. It's a real shame we have to wait to see the movie, but then again it was a shame that it seemed to be releasing with barely a whisper of press. I did see the trailer for it before Night at the Musuem and almost danced out of my chair wiggling. Hah. Anyway, I hope that besides being super duper crazily busy you are also doing very well. Loving this season of Scrubs so far, so let people know! Yes, that's right, I expect you to tell everyone that some chick on your blog appreciates the job they're all doing. I have to tell you that I am super impressed that you make the effort to post stuff for your fans on a regular basis. Very cool...

I just rented 'The Last Kiss' this week and it definitely rates as one of the top five movies of 2006. Soooooo good, I love that the characters are so real and flawed - it really resonated with me.

I just rented The Last Kiss on dvd. It was phenominal. My husband and I thought it was going to be a standard relationship chick flick type movie. It was so much more. I laughed. I cried. I got pissed off. I thought about my life and wondered is this it? I bought the soundtrack. I just can't say enough about this movie. I just wish I went to see it opening weekend. Thank you for making this movie.

I've been battling clinical depression for years now but this movie made me realize that my life is not as bad as I make it out to be. In fact, what I've got is wonderful. This movie makes me want to take better care of myself not just for me but for my husband, friends and family. Never has a movie been so profound, so moving..... My life will be forever changed for the better. I've never been on anyone's blog before but I felt this overwhelming need to just say thank you. Thank you for protraying a character so real, all the characters were great. Just, thank you.

You have made a fan for life. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I will now enjoy my.

Time seems to be on fast forward for all of us. The past year felt like mere months. I really don't know why it goes faster as we get older.

so. not gonna lie, i might cry a little because of this whole pushed back movie thing. I might be able to hold out till march though, but only because of the shins... not that i already had it marked on my calendar...cause i didnt.

I wasn't a fan of Scrubs until a friend forced me to watch it. After seeing Garden State, I went ahead and saw what you guys could do.

I've got to be honest, John McGinley forced me to watch the show. After watching a few episodes though, I was hooked. This is my first letter to an actor as a fan, and I hope keep doing what you do.

allllllrighty. I've just finished reading most of this site. Now first of all, i did whole heartedly enjoy it!...but i still feel like i need some of my life back!

Well i'll begin how all fans do - i'm such a big fan!! Nah, i am. Really! In fact, i currently own 4 copies of season 4 of scrubs. (miscommunication between freinds at christmas..) And i own several zach braff movies.. ok, i admit they are pirated. But the people's heads in the cinema seem to be really enjoying themselves!!

OK i have to ask, - Zach, if you read this - please answer my oh so serious question. As an actor myself, and from starts in musical theatre - how the heck did you move from musical theatre to film/tv?? Maybe things are reallllly different down here in down under.. (heheh, like my alleration?) But i just don't get how you can do that! In Australia, you are either a film actor, a tv actor, a crap actor, or a theatre actor. Not combinations. And if you can't hack it, you become an agent....concidentally i actually own an entertainment agency.... but enough of my career. I want some damm hints!! How did you move from one industry to another successfully?? tell me!! Tell me!!!!!!!!!!1

sorry to hear about the movie being pushed back but not surprised considering i believe amanda did/is about to have a baby. anyway, love seeing you daily on scrubs reruns and i'll patiently wait till spring to see you on the big screen. i bought last kiss a couple of weeks ago and really liked it. i am turning 30 on monday, and i found myself really relating to the issues brought up in the movie. there were also some very sexy scenes i thoroughly enjoyed! well, happy friday to you, and thanks for working so hard to make us laugh.

ps- i've heard the new shins as well and its awesome. will you be checking them out on snl this weekend?

heyy zach. so i dont know why but ive never really explored the garden state website thoroughly, ive only been there to show people the trailer and such, but so im just now seeing all of these nice little behind the scenes videos and interviews. they're great! looked like you guys had fun shooting it...i certainly have fun every time i watch it. also..i never got the noahs ark thing and the fact that the camera is always tight except when he has a little realization!! jesus..i wish i could make films like you. keep up being the amazing filmmaker you are!

hi zach!! i just discovered scrubs during "scrubs week" and wow, i love it...yeah i know what took me so long? i got garden stake and the last kiss and have been watching them back to back, and theyve been blending in my subconscience. i was thinking micheal was mad because he off the meds ... both movies were really well done. i lovedthe commentary on both, i about laughed my butt off! it made me want to write a screenplay/play but ill never be as good...but it wont hurt to try right? i love how you can be really funny on scrubs but then go deep into the psyche of characters like large and micheal. im a lead in my friend's play, and im chaneling a female version of you to acomplish the task, and its really working. thanks for everything...im going to download the garden state and last kiss soundtracks to my ipod. cant wait for the scrubs musical, and the new movie, bummer it had to move though.

Dude you rock. I never watched Scrubs until recently and now I dvr the hell out of it. My wife and I are both OR nurses and we watch it and laugh. It's more realistic in many ways that ER and Gray's Anatomy(which I can't seem to like). Anyway, I hope you come back for season 7. Most of my OR colleagues watch Scrubs. I can't understand why the ratings aren't better, but I hear the reruns ratings are through the roof. Hey, reruns did wonders for Family Guy! Seriously, the show is one of the best TV shows I've run across in a long time. Keep up the good work. I'll definitely check out your movie.

I am about to watch The Last Kiss tonight. One of my friends told me it's great and asked me how I will like the ending so I said I will have to see. Well, I'am sure it is memorable. You are great Zach one and a million actors couldn't top you, you're the best. The way you touch your fans is awesome and so meaningful. Ok, I've had like three glasses of wine but mean every word.

Also, I watched Scrubs last night. It was so sincere and I am sure it touched many hearts, with the way Karla was having Postpartum depression, OMG! that was great to put that on TV.So many woman go through that and don't know what the hell is going on with them after the baby, all those hormones are so screwed up. I am glad the TV producers decided to do that on Scrubs. Thank you!
Also, when you said to your pregnant girlfriend I really miss you, that was so sweet, I almost cried.

I just wanna tell you that Garden State is my favorite movie in the world, because it is so true, it shows life how it really is...

Otherwise, I hope that you enjoy life as much as you can despite your "mild depression" :p
I have discovered a few years ago that you choose wether you are happy or not. And since then, every day of my life has been the best possible... That's how I related to Garden State... Life can be shit, but it's still beautiful if you choose to make it beautiful...

I think that you have to be confident in the fact that you will find the love of your life someday, and in the mean time, just convince yourself that you don't need to be with somebody else to be happy ;)

Please remember that we will always love you... and if you don't find any girl to make kids with, contact any girl commenting on this site, I'm sure she'll help you :D

I'm a 22 years old french guy who discovered Scrubs a few months ago, and I'm fond of it, it's really crazy. Moreover, I saw Garden State twice in a raw last day, and I wanted to congratulate you for it. I read somwhere that you played the guitar in the movie for a Shin's song, is that right ?

I went on the Internet to find the "tabs" of New Slang, and I found it hard to play the music (in the case you effectively play the guitar in the song, I want to know......... are you a god ? It's impossible !!). When I play, it's not as good as in the film... But i'll work on it !

I just caught the tail end of Garden State on the IFC and I read your post and kinda got to wondering, do you really feel like you know anything personally(excluding your dog)? I watched The Last Kiss last night to keep my mind off of studying for exams..and wow. it was great. i still need to see garden state. but you played your role in the last kiss so well. it really gives people a different perspective on life, and how lying and cheating can ruin everything that you had so fast and drastically.

I just finished watching the entire Garden State DVD. Your career as a director is on track or ahead of S Speilburg. Loved the movie. All of the actors were great and the script was dead on. I applaud you and look forward to seeing everything you do in the future.

also, i just found out that you worked at roman gourmet in maplewood!!! my cousins live there, and a friend of my cousin's was talking to vinnie, and he was laughing and telling her that she looked like "that hollywood kid" when she was wiping tables: one hand wiping the table, one hand in her pocket. they told her you did the same thing, and they called you "zachie pockets". i just thought that was hilarious, since every time i go to visit my cousins i HAVE to go to roman gourmet (not to mention ask my aunt and my cousins if you've been around maplewood/south orange recently.)

ZB - I hate playing this game but I can't resist... I had the honor of meeting you at this past year's TV Guide Emmy party at Social because I also have the honor of working in some capacity for the wonderful publication that is TV Guide. I was the girl in the blue dress that politely came up to you and just asked to say hello and shake your hand and then I scampered away and let you do your thing. After working in the industry for 5 years I'm not easily swayed by celebrity sightings. I've mingled with some and not with others and it's not often that I go out of my way to particularly meet someone but when I saw your cast walk through the front door, my cup runneth over with a sense of excitement, wonderment, and giddiness that can only equal that of a high school crush, and those are the best kinds of feelings. I'm highly sure you don't remember me and that is okay and if you do, well, cool. I didn't wear a bright blue dress for nothing!

I'll use this opportunity to again say hello and wish you a happy new year before the statute of limitations on wishing someone a happy new year kicks in. I believe it's January 16th.

I was recently reading PARADE, a Sunday supplement that I got in my NY Post with an article in it where you were interviewed. "I think I suffer from some mild depression." I think we all do, I mean isn't being human going through life's ups and downs? I commend you on having the guts to make that comment and as always on your honesty in yourself. You're an old souI and those souls are the one's I keep company with.

If this should be the only platform I have to speak to you again, I just want to thank you for adding more to the soundtrack of my life than anyone else. More than my brother, my sister, or my many friends in high places, in low places, in bands and in theater. The music you choose for your films always echo's how I happen to be feeling and to this day I don't know what you told Paul Simon to get the rights to "Only Living Boy In New York" in Garden State but it worked.

In Jane magazine a few years ago you said "there's a certain thing about growing up where there is a commuter train that can take you to Manhattan in 20 mins, you get on the train and you have a really good shot at making your dreams come true. It's just a matter of who's going to get on the train and who isn't." At the time that you said that I was taking the commuter train from LI to Manhattan everyday to work. And there were those people that I knew from high school, from college that weren't going to get on that train. But I knew I was on that train and I knew my dreams were right here in NYC. And my only dream was to live here and work here. I moved into Manhattan a month or two later. The soundtrack of that move was the soundtrack to Garden State - and also the song Leaving New York by REM but that's another blog. Everytime I listen to New Slang I'm reminded of my rides from LI to NY and I often listen to that song when I return home, as I did this weekend to visit with the fam. I've committed that quote to memory because it explains so much so simply. Are you going to dive in and take the risks, or just sit on the sidelines and let it pass you by? And it's not easy living in this city and making it but usually the hardest thing to do and the right thing to do are the same.

I know you most likely won't reply to this and that's ok. I guess I just wanted to let you know what your words, your films, the music that you choose for all of those films, well, just how much that has influenced me and I don't think we live in a world right now where we find inspiration so easily. And that music and those words have also brought people together and you should know that. I distinctly remember the first conversation with my ex-boyfriend whom I met on the subway being about the Shins and about Garden State (also Ghostbusters and Vans sneakers but again that's another blog.) And although Dominic and I are no longer together and haven't been for quite some time it was one of the most influential and educational relationships of my life.

ZB - keep up the good work, keep your chin up, and remain humble.

Maybe I'll catch you at the Emmy's next year. I know you'll be there again and hopefully as a winner or at the very least, nominated!

"Scrubs" is the greatest show on television! It's a simple formula really to success. There is one of two roads to take. You either veer towards sex vs. morality (as in Depesparate Housewives) or you go for intellignet as in sarcasm and wit (and a good dose of irreverence with sophmoric humor mixed in. And "Scrubs" has got it all. I can watch it with my college smart-ass kid or the college grad-kido-s who think they know-it-all and we all can laugh our asses off. It's pretentious and......not! My only wish is that it could literally "laugh my ass off!" Thanks for the hard word to Zach Braff and all of the other stars of the show! Nothing has been this good since Seinfeld!

Yo- I just saw Last Kiss on a very long international flight and became a fan of your acting... I had seen Garden State and loved the soundtrack and plot so I had a good fan-like foundation already but the Last Kiss secured it. Congrats on making movies that actually say something. I have to say that I can't wait for this movie to come out. I've always been a big fan of Scrubs, and the past two weekends I've rented The Last Kiss and it instantly became my new all time favorite movie and I've been getting everyone I know to watch it! Then I actually bought Garden State, and while it is a completely different tone, it just shows how brilliant zach really is! So back to my original point - I can't wait for a this new movie to come out!

Hey, I've never posted here before but I just wanted to tell you that I'm a huge fan of what you're doing. You're humor is brilliant. I've seen Garden State at least 100 times and I cry every time I watch it. It's pure genius. I once wrote a paper in high school after it came out calling you a new Stanley Kubrick. But, I'll stop being a kissass. I just wanted to say that I have had alot of hard times with family and relationships and stuff and your stuff really mellows me out. I watch Scrubs like 8 times a day cause it's syndicated now. I know you probably won't read this, you got a lot of comments, but if you do, know that you have a die hard fan and I hope that you realize your genius. By the way, The Last Kiss was great. Just don't go all Hollywood and use people. (Reference to Garden State - sorry! it was a funny line and I'm nerdy like that) Anyway, have fun. You're a cinematic god.

Sorry to tell you I have to download all the scrubs episodes because they are no longer on air over here in Holland. just to let you know, I buy all the seasons anyway...

There are not a lot of shows like Scrubs, and it is amazing that I can relate too much of the stories of the characters. It is truly a one of kind show. I showed scrubs to a lot of my friends and a lot of them watch it now as well. One of my friends is even disappointed that the dvd's have no longer got the Dutch subtitles. I think it spoils a lot of the jokes, so I don't really mind.

Well, I just wanted to let you know how I enjoyed the show, I hope it helps you carrying on :P

O and I just saw the PS..... that's brilliant!! They were planning on going to Holland last year but they cancelled because of the new CD... so no reason for complaining there! :P

If you like to find more music like the Shins for instance... on this site you can fill in the name and it will show you which bands you're also likely to enjoy.... Not 100% accurate though..... but I hope it will prove helpful for you....

I must admit I was a little bummed about the award going to the Baldwin (those guys have always gotten under my skin) I mean Steve Carell I can understand! Alec has been playing the same smug character for how long? Anyway I sure you're honored just to be nominated, that's a huge accomplishment to have achieved so young. When Alec was asked wheather or not he expeted to win he said he didn't really think about it but he mentioned both you and Steve as likely winners and actually made a comment about you being so young.




It's sad that so many people in Hollywood seem to think that in order to be recognized you gotta put in the years. What happened to winning awards because of Talent?? I really feel like you got passed over because of your age and that's just BS, I feel like I should leave the Golden Globes for the Clint Eastwood fans you know what I mean? Everyone's talking about you having mild depression now, I think it's awesome you're so open about your personal struggles, that's why we love you. Just so you know Aries always have depression ( and no, I'm not one of those crazy horoscope freaks that believes their life can be predicted on a piece of paper) but Aries are very intelligent and complex, and that alone is recipe for depression. Most of the happy people I know aren't the brightest crayons in the box. I myself am an aries and just like you I feel life is one big roller-coaster full of ups, downs, and in betweens and I love every minute, but it can get hard when you feel like you're ridin' it alone. Just keep on doing what you do best, which is make me smile :)

SCRUBS is awesome this season, by the way (even though I have to download it ... Australian networks SUCK)! It's so annoying that none of the awards shows will recognise such a fantastically funny show and ensemble cast.

You guys are seriously the best cure for a hangover I've ever found!

I'm impatiently awaiting the Aussie release of THE LAST KISS; we must be the last place on earth still waiting for it to hit cinemas (except maybe Antarctica but my sources tell me penguins aren't huge fans of film anyway).

I finally saw the last kiss last night. i wish i would have seen it earlier. i absolutely loved it. it was so real - the truth can be scary sometimes. i went to school in madison, so that was pretty cool for me as well. i've had many days at the terrace. i loved that that the film was supposed to be in madison. anyway, i will say that my girlfriend wanted to kick my ass after the movie for some reason...

Just scanned some comments here to see what happened at the GG, since I didn't get to watch it (I only saw you on the red carpet - and as always you are the witty, funny one - and, I'm not just saying that...there are so many boring, plastic celebrities - it was embarrassing watching Beyonce posing for the cameras, she was groping herself! -- and what was up with Angelina Jolie not talking when asked a question - just stay home then?)...anyway, sorry to hear you didn't get one. Actually, what's the big deal anyway - I think there are way too many awards for that industry - it loses its specialness. It's become basically a fashion show - "what are you wearing? - who's diamonds are those?" - sorry, got carried away.
But, some posters mentioned you have depression - hope you are okay...brave of you to admit it. I've dealt with it most of my life - I like to think that if I had been born into a normal family then I could've channeled all that sensitivity into being a great artist or writer now - oh, well...at least, I'm not living in a trash can...and, I've got meds to deal with stuff that life throws at ya...like my vision getting ever worse & losing half my hair for some reason (okay for a man, but not a woman! - god, I'm too young for cotton candy hairdos!) Such is life. It does make you cherish the little things & be grateful for what ya do have....

I saw FastTrack in LA at the Beverly Center with a friend because we saw an ad in the paper for it and we had seen the preview. I REALLY liked it. You were great--so were all the cameos! Fred Armisen, Paul Rudd, Amy Adams! You guys got a crazy cast. Jason Bateman was unbelievable. I write this just to give you my two cents. The only thing I didnt really like was how your conflict was resolved with Charles Grodin (who I hadnt seen since Beethoven!). After you told him you had set his desk on fire he just let it go. Just in case the filmmakers are still editing I wanted to share that with you. Otherwise the movie was FANTASTIC. I willl see it again in March! Scrubs is the best show on television and you have the best comedic timing of any actor on television. Keep up the good work!

Okay, so I believe in soulmates. Not just "love" soulmates, but all kinds of soulmates, and Zach, YOU are my music soulmate! Every recommendation you've ever made I either have never heard and I love, or I HAVE heard it and I already love it. I'm sure you've already heard it, but the new Damien Rice album "9" is phenomenal. I think Lisa Hannigan's voice is the most haunting sound I've ever heard. I wish she'd release some solo work.

I was wondering what happened. I saw the ad once or twice, and then nothing.

I was lucky enough to work on both GARDEN STATE(final day of filming, in bar scene) and on this film.

I truly appreciate your suggestion on how to get a bigger laugh from my reaction to Bateman in the locker room. Your generosity was much appreciated , and both you and Mr. Bateman were wonderful to watch work.

Zach, It's so nice that you have a site such as this for your fans. I love scrubs, but I will always remember you in Garden State. I went to see the movie twice with each of my twin sons. I loved the whole entire soundtrack and movie, bought both. This movie has a special meaning to me. You see, my twin sons and I used to be very close. At the time of the movie, I was trying very hard to help them overcome their addiction, so I took them each seperately to see the movie. They laughed, I laughed, we enjoyed ourselves, if only for a couple of hours. I still have the movie tickets from those times. Anyway, they're still here physically and making a mess of their lives, and I'm still listening to the soundtrack of GS and yes, crying and smiling at the same time. Thanks for listening. Hey Zach,

I believe you read these (however naive that is) but I just want to express somewhere how great I thought Last Kiss was. I just watched it last night and it was as close to perfect as perfect can be for what friends my age are going through at this age and older actually. The movie was full of class even through the bad choices, they all rally and pull together. I love that this movie had such a positive message. To forgive the ones that you love. Showing ppl that there is another option other than bailing when things aren't perfect, or even when they cause you pain..forgiveness...it was powerful and I adore ALL of these characters.

I saw garden State and thought that was good.

I absolutely love Scrubs.(The only program that I watch besides occcassional news and the apprentice)

This though, in my humble opiinion was the best so far. The depth and sincerity carried off by the whole ensemble of actors was refreshing.

I can't wait to see the EX or whatever it is going to be tagged..;) and Fletch..

I was just wondering about "Fast Track" I thought it came out and missed it! I was thinking there is no way a movie with a cast like that could have came and went so fast! I will be sure to catch it. ok, you're killing me here! first i'm excited like a giddy little girl and completely cleared my schedule for when "fast track" was supposed to come out in January, only to find out that they pushed it's release date to Mid-March. when march comes around once again i'm all excited and can't wait to see "the ex" next weekend only to find out that according to moviefone.com it's not being released til May!
